Media students inspired by Larry Lamb’s University Appearance

October 31, 2025 //  by Mimi Livanos

During his visit to Bournemouth University last week the Gavin & Stacey star, Larry Lamb spoke to students and staff about his new book, ‘All Wrapped Up’.

In the afternoon and evening, Lamb hosted a talk for media production students.

Teyla Stocker, head of music at Nerve Radio, spoke to BUzz about her experience at the actor’s talk.

She told us about his warm welcomes and encouraging motto: “He gave every single person a handshake, it didn’t feel like a lecture, it just felt like a chat.”

Lamb also took the opportunity to share his experiences within the industry.

Teyla added: “He spoke lots about the TV industry and how it has changed and himself and how he has changed a lot.”

She also told BUzz that he was very motivational in terms of the students following their dreams within the industry: “One thing I would take away from what Larry said was just ‘If you’re interested in the TV industry, take every opportunity you can.'”

Lamb also spoke to BUzz on the day about his book and how it portrays a real life on set, in the hopes to make readers understand the reality of life on set.

The actor said: “They [the public] think of red carpets, and champagne, and parties, and stars and all that, but it’s not about that.”

Lamb expressed that for him, the crew was the real hard workers of the set, and that’s what inspired him to write his book about them, and not the cast.
