A Dorset folk music group will launch their new album at a church in Poole this week.
Ninebarrow, who are named after a spot on the Purbeck Hills, will premiere their latest studio album at St James’s Church on Saturday, November 1.
Jon Whitley and Jay LaBouchardiere released The Hour of the Blackbird earlier this month after a collaboration with more than 50 singers from two community choirs.
Their sixth release features Hampshire’s Hart Voices and Surrey’s Chantry Singers as the duo explore songs from their back catalogue.
The album came about after the title track was recorded with an aim to raise money for charity during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The single generated £8000 for the mental health charity MIND and was praised by BBC Radio 2 presenter Mark Radcliffe.
Speaking ahead of this weekend’s Poole launch concert, band member Jon Whitley said:
“We do a lot of church gigs, we just love playing them.
“The spaces are built for sound. It’s a privilege and a pleasure to be able to put on a concert in such a beautiful space.”
After their Poole concert, Ninebarrow will perform in Stowe, Arnside, Guilford, Harwell, South Petherton and St Endellion.
