Poole Pirates chase treble tonight

Poole Pirates will look to retain the BSN Series title tonight in a bid to complete back to back trebles, when they face Redcar in the second leg of the final tonight.

The Pirates must overturn a narrow deficit after Wednesday’s second leg was postponed due to bad weather.

Poole trail Redcar by just two points following a 44–46 defeat in the first leg at the Eco Arena, heading into tonight’s encounter.

Overturning the deficit would see Poole repeat last season’s remarkable treble.

The Pirates have already retained the Cab Direct Championship after a dramatic Grand Final victory over Glasgow last week, which was decided by a Super Heat after the aggregate scores were tied at 90–90.

Earlier this month, they also lifted the Knockout Cup, beating tonight’s opponents, Redcar, 103–77 on aggregate.

Poole’s first-leg loss ended a winning streak of 4 over Redcar across the playoff campaign as they look to become the only side to have won the BSN series title aside from the Dorset team.

The second leg was originally scheduled for Wednesday, 22nd October, but was postponed due to heavy rain forecast in the area.

Poole will be at full strength, while Redcar will operate a rider replacement for Erik Riss, who remains unavailable for the Teesside outfit.

Poole Pirates: 1 Richard Lawson, 2 Tobias Thomsen, 3 Lewis Kerr, 4 Zach Cook (c), 5 Anders Rowe, 6 Paul Starke, 7 Will Cairns.

Redcar Bears: 1 Charles Wright (c), 2 Jake Mulford, 3 Jason Edwards, 4 Erik Riss R/R, 5 Danny King, 6 Jody Scott, 7 Ace Pijper.

All advance tickets remain valid for tonight’s rearranged fixture.
