Purbeck Film Festival returns for its 29th year, bringing a diverse programme of independent cinema, classic films, and local filmmaking talent to one of the UK’s most scenic corners.
From cliffside screenings to intimate Q&As, the festival continues to cement its reputation as one of the country’s most atmospheric and community-driven film events.
The festival also offers a chance to see films outside mainstream cinema, often showcasing experimental or lesser-known work.
Many visitors appreciate the chance to discuss ideas directly with filmmakers, making it a unique experience beyond just watching films.
This year, students around the south coast are attending, some for their first time.
Chichester film student, Isobel Mills, is travelling to the festival to immerse herself in indie film in the hopes to discover other like-minded young cinema fans.
Mills said, “It’s worth the hour and a half drive. I am coming all the way from Chichester to take part.”
She added, “I’ve never been before, but I have heard great things about the previous years.”
The film festival features 94 films in over 30 venues, in which, Isobel is attending three.
The films student said, “It’s a fantastic opportunity to network with other film makers and see what kind of work they are putting out there.”
The festival is growing in popularity among young minds, inspiring them in their own art.
