A record number of riders took on the Weymouth beach race last Sunday in an adrenaline filled spectacle.

Over 340 riders took to the soft sandy beach which had been expertly crafted to form a track with challenging turns and jumps.

The senior and junior and senior class attracted more than 100 riders proving how much of a desired event it truly was across all ages.

Neil Berry, founder of motocross company Factory MXF has been involved in motocross for over 38 years and encouraged people to try the sport.

He said: “Get involved its an active sport, it gets people outdoors, it brings people together, you can do it as a family across all ages.”

Motocross is a sport on the rise with a 26% increase in viewership in 2024 for the SuperMotocross league a major event in the calendar.

Berry further added: “Motocross is a good way to stay fit and there is a great community around it.”

The race attracts a great number off spectators with an estimated 1500 attending the annual event ready to cheer on their favourite riders.

For some people it was their first time taking part in the rice and the excitement was palpable.

A first time rider in the event Will Briggs exclaimed: “First time for me, its an interesting course for sure, fell off a few times.”

Briggs also encouraged people to get involved in the sport after being a consistent racer until 2020 when he took a break.

When asked about joining the sport he said: “Definitely join, the community buzz and the adrenaline is amazing, it is really great fun.”
