Hampshire and Scotland pace bowler Brad Wheal has signed a one-year contract extension, keeping him at the Utilita Bowl until at the least the end of 2026.

Wheal took 29 wickets across all formats for Hampshire in 2025, with season-best figures of 4-46 against Somerset in the County Championship.

Unfortunately, the fast bowler was kept on the sideline for a large chunk of the season due to injuries only allowing him to appear in 15 matches.

In a statement from Hampshire, Brad Wheal said: “I’m delighted to stay at Hampshire for another year. This club has been my home for ten years now and I’ve been well supported by the coaches and staff here, as well as the members and fans.”

The 29-year-old has taken 239 wickets for the Rose and Crown in all three formats since his debut in 2015.

He has also taken 49 wickets in 41 matches for Scotland and has featured in three T20 World Cups for The Scots.

Wheal appeared six times for Hampshire in the Metro Bank One Day Cup as the club made the final at Trent Bridge for the second time in three years.

The Scotland international added: “It’s a really exciting time for the club, especially on the bowling side, and I’m keen to be at the forefront of the attack to help us challenge for more trophies in the coming years.”

Brad Wheal will be at the forefront of Hampshire’s bowling attack as they hope for a successful 2026 campaign.
