An event hosted at Patch for businesses that focus on sustainability was held on Thursday 30th October.

It was run by Small99’s People, Planet, Pastry series, an organisation which aims to provide guidance for small businesses to reach carbon net zero.

Woodford said: “We’ve had quite a journey. Our office space is near maximum capacity.”

Nick Whitnell, founder of the business Daring Works, explained how events like these are :“for bringing people together. It is the antidote to all of these problems that we appear to be facing.”

“We orientate talks on sustainability around a compassionate lens, rather than shaming or judging.”

Whitnell added: “This event is part of the People, Planet, Pint community, started by Small99 to connect small businesses. While big firms focus on carbon metrics, Small99 wanted to bring people together.”

Looking ahead, Karley Woodford explained: “We have a sustainable Christmas event, selling second-hand clothes and vegan food, and hosting workshops where you can make Christmas gifts. It’s a ‘come and discover’ event where you can learn how to have a more sustainable Christmas.”

Tamara Miller, a holistic run coach, attended the Patch for the People, Planet, Pastry event.

“My friend invited me to a networking event here. I don’t usually go to these, but it’s been really lovely. I love the space, the colours, and how central it is.”
