AFC Bournemouth Supporters Trust launch fundraiser for Tifo

AFC Bournemouth’s Cherries Trust have launched a fundraiser for a large banner display at the Vitality Stadium.

The group are seeking £1,200 to create the banner, otherwise known as a tifo, which is set to be used at the club’s home matches.

The Cherries Trust is an independent supporters’ group for AFC Bournemouth and have set up their fundraiser on GoFundMe.

Cherries Trust is facilitating a Crowdfunder for a group of fans who wish to help improve the atmosphere by having a TIFO at Key Home matches. Please donate if you’re able, or share if not. Many Thanks #AFCB https://t.co/QovlZ7SS4r (design still in progress) pic.twitter.com/wJQ7t1ziMs

The banner will be the second of the season, with the Trust creating another in tribute to the late Diogo Jota for the club’s opening match of the season against Liverpool.

One of the four fan organisers, Ian Thomson, has said they hope the tifo will be up in the South Stand before the end of the year:

“The idea is to bring the home atmosphere up to the level of our away support.”

“We want to spur our young players on, give that extra 5%, and become that 12th man.”

“We want a design that can be reused, and we are going to a professional agency to give us a great design.”

Bournemouth currently hold the third-best home record in the Premier League, winning four matches and drawing one out of their five games at the Vitality Stadium.

Thomson added: “What the ownership and Bill Foley have done with fan experience is already fantastic, and the club have said they will top up any shortfall in donations.

“But fundamentally it is a fan-led idea with their support.”

The Cherries Trust hope to expand their support to two tifos in the South and North Stands, if their campaign is successful.
