Alex Scott was left out of England’s squad which faced Serbia in their World Cup Qualifier on Thursday night.
The 22-year old midfielder has impressed so far this season, making 12 appearances for AFC Bournemouth in all competitions, scoring against Brighton.
Cherries manager Andoni Iraola spoke about Scott’s call-up:
“I am pleased for him, I think he’s been playing very well.”
Iraola also urged the midfielder to learn from the experience.
With competition fierce for a spot on the plane next year for the World Cup in the USA, Scott will have to keep impressing with the opportunities he can get.
Thomas Tuchel’s decision to leave out Scott likely comes due to squad rotation, with the German still trying to find his best eleven.
The Three Lions beat Serbia 2-0 despite Scott’s absence, with goals from Bukayo Saka and Eberechi Eze sealing the victory.
Scott will have to wait a little longer to receive his first England cap, with the chance maybe coming soon in the second game of the international break, against Albania.
