He said: “I am pretty nervous, stressed as there are some big names out there that are racing but I am also excited to see what we can do as a crew.”
Excitedly, this years event effectively stretches over 2 days with the addition of the inaugural Junior fours head that takes place on Friday the 14th.
Valere added: “Training has been going really well; we have built up some excellent speed in our four and we are hoping to properly showcase it in the race.”
Local rowing club Christchurch are also competing in the event, in the Open club quad category and have teamed up with Poole Amateur Rowing Club.

Euan Speare, 18 who is linking up with Valere in the same crew stated: “This will be my second time racing on the Tideway in this event and I will hope to replicate last year where we won in the 1st eights category.”
This year’s event will be an emotional race for rower Connor Quann as It will be his first race since returning from knee surgery.
He exclaimed: “After recovering from surgery I am really excited for this Saturday to be my first race in a while.”
