Wimborne Town FC have announced the signing of 18-year-old goalkeeper Kai Crampton on a month-long youth loan from AFC Bournemouth ahead of their FA Trophy clash.

The Magpies now finally have two stoppers in their ranks, only registering their number one Cameron Plain beforehand, who was also previously loaned to the Wyatt Homes Stadium from the Bournemouth academy in 2019/20.

The youngster will be expected to provide cover for Plain, who is currently nursing through a shoulder injury after a clash with former Premier League striker Charlie Austin last weekend against Hungerford Town.

Wimborne Town captain Sam Jackson is “excited” to have a player who’s “highly thought of at the professional level”, and has no worries about his age.

He said: “A goalkeeper doesn’t always have to be the loudest player – hopefully he hits the ground running and plays his normal game with confidence – then we will be more than happy with him”

Crampton has represented England at Under-17 and Under-16 level.

The 18-year-old has previously played for the Chelsea Academy, before leaving Cobham to join the Cherries in January 2025.

He won the Under-18 Premier League South and the Under-17 Premier League Cup during his time with the Blues.

He will be available to feature against Chatham Town in the FA Trophy on the weekend, which will be his Magpies debut at the Wyatt Homes Stadium.
