AFC Bournemouth have submitted a £27.75 million offer for 19-year-old Vasco da Gama’s Rayan.
The Brazilian teenager is highly rated, with several other European clubs interested, as well as the Cherries.
He has primarily been used as a right winger in Brazil, scoring 14 goals in 34 games in the Brazilian Serie A in 2025.
The teenager has carried on this form into 2026. In what could be his final game at the club, Rayan scored 2 goals in a 4-2 win over Maricá FC.
Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola was hesitant to comment in his Press Conference previewing Bournemouth’s game with Brighton.
He said: “I cannot speak about players that are not our players and who play for other clubs. I think you have to understand I cannot speak about those players.”
Iraola added: “It’s true that the club is working on trying to sign players. We are all aware about our situation that now is very delicate and we need to add players.
But it’s true that you cannot just decide, “Okay, I need one player, I will sign it today,” and then there have to happen a lot of things to reach to an agreement. And the club is working in different situations, open to different options.”
The Cherries currently sit in 15th place with 26 points, and halfway through the transfer window, have only signed backup goalkeeper Fraser Forster.
Following a summer where key players, the likes of Ilya Zabarnyi, Dean Huijsen and Milos Kerkez, all departed for significant fees and a poor start to this season, investment is needed.
With the recent departure of Antoine Semenyo to Manchester City for £65 million and Justin Kluivert picking up a suspected knee injury that could see him miss 3-4 months, the Cherries will be hoping to bring in Rayan as quickly as possible.
The Cherries have also had a bid rejected for 20-year-old central midfielder Alex Tóth of Ferencváros.
With both Rayan and Tóth aged 20 or under, it appears the Cherries are looking to build for the future with two considerable investments.
