Bashley host relegation rivals Tavistock on Saturday in a crucial game in the fight for safety in the Southern League Division One South.

The last time these two sides met was in October where it finished with Tavistock taking all three points to end Bashley’s unbeaten away record.

A win for Bashley would take them up to 19 points, but still three from safety.

Manager, Jack Williamson, said: ‘We’ve got 16 cup finals to stay in this league and that’s where we need to be, in the southern league.’

‘It’s just another game, it’s an opportunity at home in front of our fans’

The home side come into this game with 9 straight loses in a row, with the last game finishing in a 4-3 loss to Mousehole after a late winner in the 89th minute.

Williamson urges the fans to get behind the team in what is a vital game for the club.

‘I said it in my notes for the game on Saturday, I want them to almost suck the ball into the net.’

‘I want the atmosphere to be so lively and aggressive and on the front foot and the players to reflect that.’

After two long away days, Bashley will be hoping to use their home advantage.

Williamson: ‘The people that travel to Mousehole and Portishead, they can see what we are trying to do and what we are accomplishing.’

When we aren’t getting what we deserve, I think the fans can be a massive help with that on Saturday.’

Tavistock themselves are in even worse form, coming into the game with 11 straight losses in a row.

Their last win was the reverse fixture against Bashley.

The away side are 12 points from safety needing to win this game to have any chance of staying in the division.

Last week, Bashley shared the news that Portsmouth goalkeeper, Oscar Glover’s loan has been extended until the end of the season.

Williamson said: “Oscar has already put in a number of good performances, and we look forward to seeing him grow over the remainder of the season with us.”

Having played the last 2 games, Glover is expected to start on Saturday.
