Bagels have have been traced back to the 13th century, made by Jewish bakers in Poland. During this time anti-semitic laws were in place to segregate Jewish people. However, Jewish bakers were given the leeway to bake for both Jewish and Christians. The top seller was a boiled ring-shaped bread known as obwarzanek.
