The Boscombe Thrive event came to the Sovereign Center on Thursday the 29th of January running between 10am and 6pm to help support the community. It aimed to create opportunities and allow people and organisations to connect.
A huge number of organisations were in attendance ranging from a health and well-being hub, a recruitment zone and free health MOT.
Due to last year’s success, organisers hope this year’s will gain enough attraction, that will mean they are able to continue next year.

Project lead and organiser of Boscombe Thrive event Kaoutar Addi said: “Boscombe is in the top 10 percent deprived areas in the UK, and for a lot of organisations it’s been difficult to engage, especially for Boscombe.”
“It’s a one stop shop from one service, they can be referred to another service and they can access it the same day.” She added.
Poonan, Community connector for community network action said: “I think the most important thing is to engage, participate and have that conversation. If you don’t have that conversation you’re not going to know there’s so many free things available.”
BCP employee Julie Borswick said: “She is here today to promote volunteering within the council, we have 49 different projects in open spaces.”
“You get to meet lots of different people, you can use your skills to share them with other people, but also it’s about learning new skills as well.” She continued.
Dorset police positive action team employee Katega Gort said: “We are here to serve the public to support everyone, It’s in the heart of the organisation to help everyone.”
Last year NHS Dorset supported this event, however, this year it has been funded by the government.
A statement from BCP council, councillor David Brown, cabinet member for health and wellbeing at BCP council said: “ we’re proud to support Thrive 2026, funded by BCP council through the UK Shared Prosperity fund.
“This event reflects our commitment to helping residents and strengthening local communities. By bringing health, wellbeing, and employment support together in one place, we’re making it easier for people to access the help they need to lead healthier, happier, and more connected lives.
