Bournemouth were yesterday rumoured to have struck a deal with Brazilian side Vasco da Gama for winger Rayan Vitor Simplício Rocha, known to most as Rayan.

Details on the deal revealed by Mark McAdam show that the package is worth £35 million.

Brazilian Journalist Joel Silva who has reported on the young star, spoke about the 19 year olds talent that he can bring to the cherries: “I feel Bournemouth is making a great signing because Rayan is a generational striker.

“I dare say he is a player who will play for the Brazilian national team for years and will be among the greatest strikers in the world.

“In other words, he will cause a lot of discomfort, a lot of fear to any opposing defence. So, I think it is a great signing, a sure choice by Bournemouth.”

Silva discusses the type of player that Bournemouth are investing in, “I compare him to Endrick, even having qualities that are more important and more decisive than Endrick, because he is taller and stronger.

“But he is at that level, the level of a Brazilian national team player who will shine a lot, I have no doubts.”

The signing has been accelerated by the departure of winger Antoine Semenyo who joined Manchester City in a deal worth £72 million.

Semenyo scored ten goals for Bournemouth in the Premier League which leaves the club with big shoes to fill.

If Rayan completes his move, he will be the third signing for the Cherries in the January transfer window after Alex Toth joined the team yesterday.

The window has added pressure for the Cherries as their injury list continues to grow.

Absences to Justin Kluivert, Tyler Adam, David Brooks and Marcus Tavernier in addition to the departure of Antoine Semenyo means the Cherries need plenty of newcomers through the door.

AFC Bournemouth have been linked to signings throughout the transfer window but to get Rayan through the doors will be a big boost for the Cherries.

After dropping down to 15th place Bournemouth will look to start bringing wins back to the Vitality and bounce back up the table.
