Boxer Chris Billam-Smith reveals ideal timeline for return

January 15, 2026 //  by Zack Walker

Bournemouth born and bred boxer, Chris “The Gentleman” Billam-Smith, spoke to BUZZ News with an exclusive revealing when he feels he is ready to return to the squared circle, as he sets his sights on a more active 2026.

He was the WBO Cruiserweight Champion from 2023-2024, until he lost his belt in Riyadh to Gilberto Ramirez, via Unanimous Decision.

He fought once in the 2025 calendar year, returning to action in April when he defeated Brandon Glanton via Unanimous Decision on the Eubank Jr vs Benn undercard.

Buzz News correspondent, Connor Hannon, spoke to Billam-Smith about his return

“Next step for me will be hopefully out around March time. Not sure who or where yet”

Billam-Smith hopes to be in contention or fighting for a belt in his next outing. But is prepared do to fight whoever he is given.

“It might be an opportunity to fight for a world title next or have a fight in the meantime, but for me its about winning a world title in my next two fights whoever that might be against, right now, immediate future is get sharp and get to work for whatever opportunities arrive.”

Until his victory at the beginning of 2025, Billam-Smith hadn’t fought in a non-title fight since late 2022, in which he fought at the BIC.

The question is whether this is a sign of a Bournemouth return on the cards?
