Man dies in Bournemouth after electric scooter collision

A man has died following a collision involving an electric scooter outside a nightclub in Bournemouth.

Dorset Police received a report at 1.55am on Monday, January 5 of a collision involving an electric scooter on Old Christchurch Road, opposite Popworld nightclub.

The rider, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries, but later died in hospital on the afternoon of Monday, January 12.

The rider’s family have been made are aware.

The other passenger on the scooter sustained minor injuries in the incident.

Sergeant Mike Burt, of the Serious Collision Investigation Team, said: “Our thoughts are very much with the family and loved ones of the young man who sadly died following this incident.

“We are continuing to conduct enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this collision, and I would urge any witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to please make contact with us.”
