The police have now released a statement following a serious attack at the game between Dorchester Town and Weymouth Town back in December.
The match took place at the Avenue Arena on the 27th of December in the Southern Premier Division.
In a statement from Dorset police, it has been reported that a member of security was assaulted with the victim reportedly being punched and kicked by an attendee he was attempting to escort out the stadium.
The victim was then taken to hospital with injuries to his head and ribs which thankfully were not believed to be serious.
Police Constable Daniel Walker of Dorchester Police went on to say: “we are continuing to investigate this matter, and I would urge anyone who attended the game and witnessed the assault or has information of what happened to please contact us if you haven’t done so already.”
“No one deserves to be assaulted at their place of work, and we have been exploring all lines of enquiry to identify the person involved.”
We contacted Weymouth Town about the incident they said: “We don’t have any details about the event as of now and have not yet been contacted by the police.”
Weymouth then went on to say: “We are backing the police in this situation and if anyone has any information please contact Dorset police.”
We contacted Dorchester Town and are awaiting a reply.
If you have any details about the event, please contact Dorset Police online or by calling 101.
You may also contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously online or by calling the number 0800 555 111.
