Oliver Glasner is set to leave Crystal palace in June 2026 after informing the owners months ago he is ready “for a new challenge”
Glasner will depart Selhurst Park having already secured his place in the club’s history.
The Austrian guided Palace to their first ever FA Cup triumph and followed that success by helping the Eagles qualify for European football, marking one of the most successful periods the South London club has ever experienced.
Since arriving, Glasner has transformed Palace into a well organised, aggressive and tactically flexible side, earning plaudits across the league for the team’s pressing structure and big-game mentality.
His ability to blend experienced Premier League players with emerging talent has been central to Palace’s rise and their new status as a genuine top-half contender.
His decision to leave will come as a huge disappointment to Palace supporters and players alike, particularly given the momentum built under his leadership. The timing of his departure also raises questions about the club’s long-term direction, with recruitment, European commitments and squad stability all likely to be affected by the impending change in the dugout.
However, Glasner’s exit could offer encouragement to league rivals Bournemouth, who will be targeting Palace as a direct competitor in the race for league position.
The Cherries have shown steady progress of their own and will see an opportunity to capitalise on any uncertainty at Selhurst Park as the season reaches its decisive stages.
That dynamic adds extra intrigue to the meeting between the two sides on 2 May, a fixture that could prove season-defining for both clubs.
As Palace prepare to enjoy the remainder of a historic campaign under Glasner, attention will inevitably begin to turn towards his successor and whether the club can maintain the standards he has set.
For now, though, the focus remains on maximising what could be a final, memorable chapter under a manager who has already reshaped Crystal Palace’s modern identity.
