Two men, Cain Hughes, 23, and Kalup Hughes, 34, were sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court on Thursday 29th.
The Court sentenced Cain to three years in jail. Kalup received a sentence of five years and four months.
At around 7.40 pm on Friday, 14 February 2025, Dorset Police had received multiple calls involving two men in the area of Crossways in Dorchester.
The pair stopped other motorists and asked for assistance with their broken-down Ford Focus near the Woodsford level crossing.
They approached several vehicles, making threats to the vehicle occupants and attempting to pull them from their seats.
The men fled the scene on foot after multiple unsuccessful attempts.
Detectives swiftly carried out an analysis of fingerprints on the victims’ vehicles. They identified Cain Hughes and Kalup Hughes as the two men involved.
Investigations Officer Florence Winstanley, of Dorset County CID, said:
“The judge praised the bravery of the victims, one of whom was a lone female who, despite being physically and verbally threatened, refused to leave her vehicle.’’
