The Shelley Theatre is hosting the highly rated Japanese movie ‘One Cut of the Dead.’
The movie, which gained a 100% review on Rotten Tomatoes had a budget of $25,000 and managed to gross $25,000,000 in Japan. It originally appeared on only two screens but is now on hundreds.
The film was the 13th highest grossing movie in Japan during 2018 which is bigger than Black Panther, The Shape of Water and Ready Player One.
The plot follows a film crew making a zombie movie at an abandoned military warehouse where experiments took place. Suddenly, real zombies turn up and cause havoc for the crew. Although this looks like a massive cliché, the movie then switches and turns into an audience-friendly comedy.
The movie garnered numerous awards such as the Fantastic Fest Audience Award, best international film by the Fantaspoa Film Festival and the best picture award by the JFFLA.
One Cut of the Dead will have a one night showing in Bournemouth at the Shelly Theatre at 8pm on Thursday 17 January.
