Bournemouth University Rugby society ride for Movember.

After a day of cycling to Twickenham and back (virtually), the Bournemouth University Men’s Rugby Society has raised over £5000 for the Movember charity, which raises awareness of mens mental health, and testicular and prostate cancers.

After starting on the bikes at 9am this morning, they crossed the finish line at 2:30pm, after riding around 170 miles.

Thirty of the rugby players turned up today to support the cause and took turns on the exercise bikes to make the distance.

Will Gilder is the charity and fundraising manager for the society, he says: “We are doing it because over 75% of suicides in 2017 were men”. He adds:  “It is the leading cause of death for men and is the largest cause of death for men under 50. 43% of men regularly feel worried or low which is a huge increase from 2009.”
