Gulliver’s in Wimborne Minster is a family run, independent indie business run by the Angel family.
The bookshop first opened in 1969, the business is paired with Westbourne books and Square Records.
53 years later, the shop is still an enormous success after they won the regional prize for the British Book Awards in 2019.
Jane Roberts said: “We love to give back to the community and get sent a bunch of free stuff which is great to pass off and admittedly helps us too!”
Recently, the business has been giving out free resources for children.
They posted a tweet calling to local nurseries, schools, play schools, and childminders to pop down to their shop and receive the free goods.
Calling local nurseries, schools, playschools, childminders etc!! We are giving away posters, standees, bookmarks and bunting. Pop into the shop and help yourself. #Wimborne #FreeStuff #Bookshop #Community pic.twitter.com/CodEJJcE5R

After asking why they decided to offer out free resources, Jane said: “We are aware that a lot of teachers and caregivers buy things out of their own pocket, so we thought it is a perfect opportunity to make things available to help themselves to.”
Gulliver’s Bookshop covers every genre of book and has a rapid ordering system to supply any print book within 24-48 hours and their stock ranges from books to jigsaws to toys, cards, calendars and diaries.
In the drier months the company wrap books up and hides them around the town of Wimborne for the public to find, giving clues on their Instagram pages to give back to customers and encourage visitors.
