The redesign of the Savoy Hotel in West Cliff Garden, Bournemouth, will include major renovations, expansions and new construction. New features include a salt cave and spa, as well as a rooftop terrace.
Last year, it was purchased by Nicolas Roach, a well-known UK hotelier and owner. According to the planning statement, the project will build a “world-class hotel, which is lacking in Bournemouth”. Hotels are said to be getting older and more neglected, according to local residents such as Timothy Penouey, 56.
“The more beautiful buildings we have, the better- it’s going to be great.”
It’s going to be great
The application also states that sensitivity to heritage has been balanced with opportunities for investment, and new jobs will be created within the hotel and during construction.
This, says Penouey, is another positive result of the refurbishment.
“The more work that’s available for people the better, they are well needed.”
The plans, submitted to BCP, propose “an exciting new five star brand, which will become a distinctive luxury lifestyle destination in Bournemouth.” Renovations are scheduled to begin in the upcoming months.
