Marketing West Events launch a new Bournemouth Business Awards

Marketing West Events are launching the Bournemouth Business Awards on the 25th of January 2022. 

The company already runs business award events around Dorset, Devon and Somerset. These awards focus on promoting and celebrating local businesses. 

Nigel Reeves, Founder of Marketing West Events, said: “We started to think about where else we could look at. We decided to have a go at Poole.”

“It worked like a dream and at that point it was probably the best one we had done. The next stage was obviously to look at Bournemouth.”

“This is real grassroot business awards.”

Jay Rachet, who will host the awards, said: “It’s an amazing opportunity for me to host the Bournemouth Business Awards with Nigel. It’s an opportunity now to really embrace the businesses.”

“During the pandemic businesses have changed, it’s about bringing businesses and the community together. I feel that I am a pillar in the community and Nigel and I work really well together so it was a partnership made in heaven. I’m really looking forward to it.” 

Anyone can nominate a business for an award, whether you are a customer or a business – “A nomination is the equivalent to an entry.”

The nominations are not judged on the number that a particular business receives, it is based on what is said about the business. 

How will the winners be decided?

When speaking about the other local awards they run, Nigel Reeve said: “What we do is invite the judges, they then get a brief in detail as to what to look for and what to do. They get a list of the categories, a copy of all the individual entries and we ask them to vote out of a hundred for each one.”

Nigel explained that getting a mark over 50 is a good indicator of a successful application.

“It works and there’s no outside influence. The judges don’t know who the winners are. They get invited to the awards but they don’t know who the other judges are that are there.”

“There’s no collusion between them at all. It is genuinely their opinion. We always seem to come up with a clear winner.”

Nigel Reeves has spoken to a number of past winners and they are all ecstatic. 

When speaking to one of the previous winners he was told that winning has done a lot to help many businesses and has put them on the map. 

The official launch of the new Bournemouth Business Awards will take place on Tuesday 25th January 2022 at Bournemouth University.
