Christmas is coming, and Bournemouth based music teacher Katrina Fox and her students are using this for good.
For the past three years Katrina has been hosting an online advent busk, where students from age five to pensioners film and upload Christmas songs to YouTube.
Previously Katrina and her two children would busk on the 23 and 24 December using recorders but during Covid-19 this was no longer possible.
This year participation in the event has doubled from last year and 50 students are joining in.
Donations are then made on a just giving page and given to the Michael House charity in Boscombe.
Katrina chose this charity as she finds them unique in that they take homeless people in and provide complete care and support until they have been rehabilitated and are able to live indecently.
Michael House ensures they include mental health support and provide help in seeking employment.
The online advent busk begins December 1 with one or two videos being uploaded until December 25.
The videos are also uploaded on social media which Karina said they “heavily rely” on for donations as they receive large anonymous donations as well as smaller ones.
“£3000 is my target,” said Katrina but is estimating the cost-of-living crisis will make it harder to get donations.
