The Cherries conceded four second half goals to Liverpool as the Reds ran out 4-0 winners with Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez both scoring twice.
A goal-less first half provided hope for Bournemouth despite having one win against the opposition in their last ten encounters.
Jota quickly diminished the Cherries beliefs when he broke the deadlock just five minutes into the second half; later on, Nunez followed suit scoring two goals in ten minutes. Jota netted his brace at the death making it four.
The defeat sees Bournemouth remain twelfth in the league, failing to close the gap on the top half of the table.
Bournemouth return to action on Thursday night as they take on Swansea City in cup action, Iraola claims how they would have preferred more time to recuperate from league action – the Cherries are short on defensive options with injuries taking their toll.
He said: “I would prefer to have more days to recover, especially considering our full back positions.
“I don’t know how they (players) finish today – it is what it is and we have to prepare as we want to be in the competition.”
