A Bournemouth running club has raised £14,000 for Bournemouth Foodbank.
Sole Clinic, the open-to-all club that organise multiple weekly events across Bournemouth, set out to take on the 13.1 miles on Bournemouth’s seafront.
The money raised by the club will see a new van purchased for Bournemouth Foodbank (BFB) allowing them to reach more of those who need their services.
Jake Balston, co-founder of Sole Clinic, said: “I met the lovely Rio Argent, (fundraising manager at BFB) we just got talking about using the wonderful community we’ve got, to give back to Bournemouth.
“It was humble beginnings for the now 300+ strong group “We started the club as a group of friends to keep ourselves accountable.
“The beauty of it is, Sole Clinic is run by its community, It’s the people that have grown Sole Clinic to what it is today,”
More than 4,000 people took part in the Bournemouth half marathon, with thousands more flocking to watch their family and friends complete the race.
“It’s great seeing it all, this is where I did my first half marathon when I was in Uni here,” said Calum Goddard Mocklow
Calum is another member of Sole Clinic who has amassed over 36,000 followers whilst documenting his running journey.
Calum’s fiancé Issy Sedgwick, who has also racked up over 51,000 followers documenting her journey from being a non-runner to running half marathons.
“I’m from Bournemouth, so I’ve got my family here and I’m running in areas I know and love. If you’ve got races everywhere even in small towns, everyone has the opportunity to do it.”
Don’t compare yourself to others, they’ve got a completely different journey to you. It’s about getting out there. Getting out the door is the hardest part,” Calum said.
Entries are now open for the 2025 edition of the Bournemouth Half Marathon, and with Sole Clinic putting on multiple events every week, the numbers running 13.1 miles next October may well grow for another year.
