A source close to the Chelsea academy has said that 19-year-old Zain Silcott-Duberry will be signing for AFC Bournemouth.
He says: “We’ve heard recently that he was on trial at Bournemouth a few weeks ago.
“He’s definitely been exploring a move for the last two to three windows and his agency have been keeping an eye out.”
Our source (@TheChelseaSpot – on X) claims that the Cherries were not the only interested party in the Blues player and that he had offers from other clubs.
“I think Bournemouth is quite an attractive option [for him], he’ll hopefully get a lot of minutes whether that’s now or in the future.
When asked about whether Silcott-Duberry could get into Iraola’s plans, he said: “He definitely could.
“Obviously he’s still young, but he’s got quality so maybe it might take a loan or two for him to get him accustomed to senior football before getting a chance in the first team.
“Bournemouth’s Academy is great but so is Zain, so he’s definitely going to be pushing for the first team and trying to get those minutes.”
It’s up in the air where the London born man would feature as he’s been deployed as a left and right winger as well as featuring as a right wing-back.
He added: “I think originally he was maybe a bit more of a midfielder or forward, someone who can play the ‘10’ and out-wide.
“In the last two years he’s been utilised more as a wing back because Chelsea’s Under-21s played with a five at the back last season.
“He was really good at wing back often arriving in the box.”
The reported signing is yet to be announced by the club, but if it were to happen it would become the Cherries third signing of the window.
