Residents at Zetland Court in Bournemouth are knitting blankets and hats for the maternity unit at Poole Hospital.
The care home reached out to the hospital and were told that handmade items would bring comfort to newborns and families.
Edna, a resident at the care home, told Buzz News reporter Libby Evans that she had been busy all day knitting and would even continue after her dinner.
Tatiana Lancing organises the activities.
She said: “Many ladies enjoy knitting and were eager to get involved.
“Our ladies will present what they made to the families and they are so happy about that.
“No one could believe that we could make something like this and we did it, this is a special thing for them.”
The residents at Zetland Court in Alumhurst Road, Bournemouth, had been experimenting with a circular knitting machine, resident June said.
“We had fun figuring out how the machines work and we are already planning big projects for the future.”
Another resident said:
“I would love to give the babies a blanket, Im so thrilled about it and I’ll be seeing them in hospital!”
