The Cherries are 7th in the Premier League after 22 games of the 24/25 season.
This has lead to a question that very little fans would have been asking at the start of the season:
Is a spot in a European place is a real possibility?
With 16 games left to play, this previously unimaginable achievement is beginning to look far more achievable.
Bournemouth have been unbeaten for 10 games in the Premier League, most recently a 4-1 victory away from home at Newcastle.
Only 12 first team players were fit for the trip to St James’ Park but the Cherries demonstrated their teams resilience and further dominated parts of the game.
With a 4-1 lead, Andoni Iraola had the flexibility to experiment with youngsters, whilst also allowing for some of the senior players to rest with a challenging run of fixtures on the horizon.
One of the younger players who was subbed on against the Magpies was Remy Rees-Dottin who described his Premier League debut as a “very surreal experience.” Further adding that it was the “best achievement of his career so far.”
Bournemouth have shown their intent to invest in young talent with January signings such as Zaine Silcott-Dewberry, demonstrating their ambition not only for the current season but also the future.
Bournemouth’s impressive run has shown no signs of coming to an end and after a 5-1 win over West Brom in the FA Cup The Cherries still have two routes to a European spot.
However, player Rees-Dottin in not looking too far ahead, he has said:
“Obviously, we know we have a very good chance and we’re fighting for those European spots, but we have to just taking it game by game. We need the same attitude and same confidence that we’ll put in a good performance and get three points.”
With so many first team players absent with injury and Bournemouth still performing to the highest degree, it has to be said that with a returning full squad a European spot is a real possibility for The Cherries.
