Hamworthy United have confirmed both Luke Phillips and John Cook as reserve team managers this morning

Former first team coach Luke Phillips and John Cook will take over the duties of reserve team management, having been announced at 9am this morning by the club.

Luke Phillips has previously run the reserves under former manager Dan Cann who left at the end of last season due to personal health.

Meanwhile, John Cook joins the club having spent several years at Cobham Reserves.

They replace the former management team of Darren Colarelli and Ricky Barton who were announced only last night to have resigned from their roles.

The two both led the side last season, finishing 13th in the Dorset Premier Football League.

This year, Hamworthy Reserves are currently sat 12th having played 11 games, most recently winning 3-1 at home to Holt United.

Long time Hamworthy coach, but new reserve team manager Luke Phillips said: “Whirlwind few hours, but having previously run the reserves at Hamworthy under Dan Cann, and being on the first team set up this season, I can see the importance of giving them [the first team] a good pool of players to call upon.”

“First aim is to build on a great win on Tuesday vs Holt and build a competitive team to climb the table” Phillips said on his initial aims in the role.

Fellow new arrival John Cook said: “The main factors were to work with a great football club which has always been at the forefront of local football.

To have the opportunity to manage in the DPL after a few successful seasons with Cobham Reserves, and finally to work alongside Luke Phillips was a no brainer.

“The aim: to win games, bridge the gap between the first and reserves and get all the players enjoying their football at this great club.”

The previous win against Holt United saw the reserve side return to winning form; Josh Taylor, Kieran Gooding and Aza Khider all getting on the scoresheet Tuesday night.
