A Dorset community conference on climate change will return this Saturday for its third year.

Dorset Conference of Parties 2025 is a day of workshops that brings together local communities and organisations to raise awareness about the climate crisis.

The event will take place at The Exchange Centre in Sturminster Newton.

Guest speakers throughout the day will include the Leader of Dorset Council, Nick Ireland, and members of pro-environmental groups, such as Giles Watts from the Dorset Climate Action Network.

The events will cover and propose different ecological projects, including ‘Climate Conversations Through Clothing’ and ‘Restoring Dorset’s Rivers’.

These proposed projects all tie into this year’s theme of ‘Turning Environmental Ambition into Action’.

Jennifier Morisetti, organiser of Dorset COP 25, said: “I want people to go away feeling hopeful and inspired to set something up or join with someone else.

“It’s all good having legislation, and we’re going to look at what Dorset’s response should be to the government’s food security strategy, which will come out next year.

“But it’s the local level network that has the real power to make people change their habits”

Last year, the event was held at Bournemouth University and attracted more than 300 people with numbers expected to be even higher this year.
