A Boscombe witch shop owner has hosted a market for local businesses for Halloween. The market was held on the 26th October at the Royal Arcade in Boscombe.
Around 27 traders had attended the market, a wide variety of businesses from taxidermy and bones, crystals and live tarot readers.
The host Emma Fairthorne, owner of Anathema Emporium, said: “The atmosphere was warm and happy.”
She added: “There was a real need to cater for the witchcraft community.”
Witchcraft is the practice of casting spells and rituals to help improve a variety of events in life such as love, finances and even the future.
Witchcraft has seen a rise in interest due to this market. Emma has said people are disillusioned about life, and look to nature as its described as trustworthy.
Author of titles ‘Craft of the Wise’ and ‘Hekate: The Many Gods Anthologies’ Vikki Bramshaw attended the market for a book signing, ideal for the many book lovers in the witchcraft community.
Fun local markets that attended usually see a boost in sales, as some traders usually do not open on Sunday.
The market allows them to do this.
Though there were less sales this year, there was a dramatic increase in footfall, primarily from students and families.
The market organiser Emma has faced backlash about the faith from negative comments on facebook.
As well as Christians attending markets to convert witches.
The market is due to take place on the last weekend of each month, from February to November each year.
