Hundreds of residents gathered in Broadstone on Sunday morning to commemorate Remembrance Day and the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.

The community joined a march that unfolded like a moving public performance, an annual act of storytelling through marching and music that led to the town’s War Memorial.

The event, organised by the Broadstone Fields in Trust Association in partnership with the Broadstone Royal British Legion, began at 10.30 am with a parade from Tudor Road.

The procession followed Dunyeats Road and Ridgeway to the entrance of Broadstone Park, where a short service of remembrance was held.

Local organisations, including veterans’ groups, Scouts, and a marching band, participated in the march.

At the War Memorial, wreaths were laid by representatives of the Royal British Legion, Dorset Council, and community groups.

The Last Post was sounded, followed by a two-minute silence at 11 am to honour those who lost their lives in conflict.

After the service, the parade then returned at approximately 11.35 am.
