HIRSCH hair salon was taken over and reopened last month and is already making an impact on Bournemouth.

The updated salon on Commercial Road is now run by former Vice Champion of the World.

Art Director Hanna Gawlik said: “We bring years of experience and want to make customers feel inspired by our ways of Hairstyling.”

The salon is family run and their goal when opening was to make it inviting to their customers.

Gawlik led a successful career in Poland, where she worked with celebrities and competed professionally.

In the early 2000s, she became Vice Champion of Europe then the Vice Champion of the World in hairdressing.

Gawlik had to leave her country and everything behind after receiving death threats and facing domestic violence.

Her partner, Robert Wysoszynski said “Her journey wasn’t easy, she came to the UK to rebuild her life around thirteen years ago.”

“It was a very difficult chapter, yet it became the beginning of something new and powerful.”

Hanna has taken her experiences in her stride and wants to tell her story to motivate others no matter what their situation.

Gawlik said “I experienced a lot of physical abuse and death threats, I was advised by the prosecutor to move country, I landed in London and had work within three days.”

Other Interests.

The salon isn’t their only business; they own Master Class Hairdresser LTD which was designed by Hanna to train future stylists.

Hanna’s daughter, Wiktoria Gawlik said ‘We are one of the only salons in Dorset who provide Quantum Colour as a service, one of the reasons why we separate from the rest.’

The Bournemouth salon and their classes are a success with people travelling from London and Manchester to visit.

Hanna Gawlik said “England hairdressing has stopped when it comes to education, but there are new skills to be learnt.”

“I’ve released my own books in both English and Polish to teach skills.”

Wiktoria Gawlik said: “No matter someone’s background, men, women and members of the LGBTQ+ community come in.”

“We just wanted to provide a comfortable space in Bournemouth to have a chat and give them hair they won’t be disappointed in.”
