re.Defined tackling men’s mental health through January

It was an early start for re.Defined Wimborne with the group being put through their paces.

re.Defined is a free well-being community which offers men an outlet to prioritise their mental well-being by exercising and communicating with others in the local community and the power of movement for men across the UK.

Whether you are an athlete, beginner or starting a new wellness journey, all ages and stages of  life are welcome and this is a great way to start your day off positively this Blue January.

On Wednesday mornings, the Wimborne group meets for the weekly HIIT workouts and sports along with a coffee and chat. Will Tarbard, who runs the group, was amazed at this week’s turnout.

Will said “I expected the numbers, when it came to the cold months of November, December and January, would drop massively.”

The least amount of people that have attended these meet ups was 12, but this week 21 people joined them for the weekly Wednesday session in January.

Will said “January is a hard month and people are financially struck, eating more, drinking more and setting goals they may not have followed through with.”

So when promoting this meeting, he wanted to push it and get it out there for people who might be struggling with this or anything else who want an outlet or people to talk to.

Looking at re.Defined’s data, when the community was set up last year by Phil, it was made up of 70% men however this year it’s 75% of men

Will stated “It has already gone up so we are battling that stigma still, and in terms of re.Defined, it gets people up and going for the day.”
