Weymouth are through to the final of the Dorset Senior Cup after a convincing 5-1 win away from home.
The Terras opened the scoring on the 15-minute mark thanks to a deep ball from Matty Burrows slotted in by Ben Moss, setting the tone for what would be a ruthless first half performance.
Just three minutes later, Weymouth doubled their advantage and made it 2-0 from another Matty Burrows contribution. This time he cuts inside and fires past the keepers near post.
The visitors continued the press and were rewarded 2 more goals; Calvin Brooks rose highest to head one home and a lovely strike from Barney Stone on the edge of the box.
Midway through the second half Tom Bearwish put the nail in the coffin as he slotted in a fifth for the visitors. However, they couldn’t keep the clean sheet from a free kick worked into the box and put away by the hosts.
The other semi-final sees Portland United take on Dorchester Town next Tuesday night with the final date yet to be confirmed.
Dorchester Town also featured in last night’s matches in league action, as they travelled to Havant & Waterlooville.
The Magpies suffered a 3-1 defeat leaving them 2 points away from safety, whereas Havant & Waterlooville’s win keeps them in the race for a playoff place.
Dorchester conceded the first on 11 minutes but responded well and then managed to equalise before the break thanks to Jaydn Crosbie finding the back of the net after Corby Moore’s freekick.
In the second half, the home side showed their quality with 2 quick goals in the 70th and 76th minute to secure all three points.
Dorchester Town now face another tough test as travel to an in-form Chertsey Town side who are also looking to secure a playoff place this season.
