A theft was committed in Bournemouth yesterday at 3.09pm at Arcade Jewellers in Bournemouth Arcade.
Arcade Jewellers in Bournemouth Arcade, Bournemouth town Centre, experienced a theft from three individuals, taking thousands of pounds worth of jewellery.
The employees declined to comment on the recent theft, however many of the nearby shop owners shared stories of similar robberies that have occurred in the arcade and in the surrounding area.
Garm Depot are located next to Arcade Jewellers, shop owner, Kane commented on how they had been broken into due to the thieves being able to bend the gate at the entrance of the arcade.
“They have padlocks on their gate but about a week ago the same thing happened where they were able to bend the gates.” He said.
Shahn, manager of Trove, which is adjacent to Arcade Jewellers said: “This is quite rare and definitely concerning.”
She is yet to see an improvement surrounding the issue of shoplifting and stressed the severity of the problem.
Shahn stated that she can’t help but believes that “If there were more cameras outside of the shops, these things would be easier to solve.” as well as giving a lot of the owners in the arcade a sense of security.
Owner of Resneaked, Matthew Sim, said: “I have never experienced something like yesterday.” When asked about what can be done to eradicate this ongoing problem, there was one thing in common from all shop owners, an increased presence of authority and more town centre rangers or policemen.
Further investigations are underway and the people responsible for the theft are yet to be identified.
