The stage adaptation of The Talented Mr. Ripley hit UK theatres September 2025 and after rave reviews, has made its’ way to stage at Poole Lighthouse.

Debuting the show on the 16th of March, familiar faces will be hitting the stage performing as the ensemble cast led by The Crown’s Ed McVey, Free Reign’s Bruce Herblin-Earle and Eastender’s Maisie Smith to re-enter all the glitter and deception of the 1999 film.

The plot follows Tom Ripley, a charming but impoverished young man who cons himself into the glamorous life of playboy Dickie Greenleaf and his girlfriend, Marge Sherwood, in Italy. The story traces a chilling path of obsession and desperation as we witness a spiral into manipulation, identity theft, and ultimately, murder.

The production welcomed audiences in September 2025 in honour of the book’s 70-year anniversary. Adapted and directed by Mark Leipacher, The Talented Mr. Ripley stage show has lived up to prior productions such as A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Mary Stuart, and Douglass, gaining four-star reviews across major theatre networks.

Mark Leipacher noted that the performance is “very much the novel on stage.”

He also assured that although previous adaptations have made changes to the plot, he has prided himself on maintaining integral storylines of the much-loved classic:

“What we’re doing is honouring the origins of the character, which will please people who know and love the book.”

This newest adaptation has previously received praise, calling it “a sharp, stylish and cleverly unsettling adaptation” and a “thrilling adaptation”, with some reviews going as far to call the production a “must see”. The show has sold out across the UK, with expectations for Dorset to show up and indulge in the glamorous world of The talented Mr Ripley.

Poole Lighthouse has hosted many stage shows before, from the fan-favourite musical Heathers to dramatic adaptations such as The Shawshank Redemption, the venue acts as the perfect grounds to bring audiences together for a refreshed adaptation.
