A 20-year-old man is being trialled for manslaughter and possession of a weapon after a stabbing in Bournemouth square in 2023.

Proceedings have begun at Bournemouth Crown court after a fatal stabbing left eighteen year-old Cameron Hamilton dead at the scene. The trial sees Southsea man Thomas Betteridge, 20, tried for manslaughter.

Forensic analyst Dr Jefferies was called to the stand where she clarified that the knife wound caused the damage to Hamilton’s right upper abdomen.

The jury were shown CCTV footage of the incident and the following events in the square.

The defendant denies the charge of manslaughter as the case is set to continue for the next four weeks.
