Dorset Council will consider a £2 million boost to cut energy bills and carbon emissions with a plan to cut streetlights.
The plan involves replacing streetlights with LED Units and spending £700,000 on introducing solar panels for council buildings instead.
The Council have claimed that this will make a saving equivalent to the energy consumption of 160 homes.
In 2022, £10 million was set aside for climate and reducing the carbon footprint of Dorset Council.
A further £6 million was invested into energy efficiency programmes.
Proposals are set to be considered by the Dorset Council cabinet on 29th January.
We reached out to BCP Council to ask if similar plans are being proposed, but they are yet to comment.
