Ellingham & Ringwood return to their home turf this weekend when they face mid table side Petersfield.
Ellingham were left frustrated despite a positive second half in their away loss to Guildford last weekend.
“It was a massive, missed opportunity I think they were there for the beating,” Says Matt, a coach at the club
Ellingham started well scoring the first try within the first five minutes after some lovely footwork from winger Zach Morrish which ended up being finished by centre Dan Gollings.
However, the game quickly got away from the Ellingham & Ringwood with Guildford quickly replying with four tries of their own leaving Guildford 26 – 5 up at the end of the first half.
The second half started no different with the Guildford grabbing themselves another try to extend their lead to 31.
However, Guildford were then forced to 14 men in the 64th minute which Ellingham & Ringwood took full advantage off.
A sense of confidence suddenly ran through the side as Elinghamm & Ringwood scored fifteen points in the last 20 minutes with tries from Higgins, Smith and Frost enough to secure the bonus point.
“It was a hard fought second half I think we had a rocket in us, and we really pushed hard to get that 4th try,” said Adam Higgins, “Extend the game by 10 minutes who knows what would’ve happened.”
Elingham & Ringwood will be looking to utilise that confidence in the Petersfield game with their opposition being called an “unknown entity” by Higgins.
Petersfield currently sit comfortably in sixth 36 points better off than their opponents however they come into the game on the back of a heavy defeat to Wimborne which will give Elingham & Ringwood a bit of confidence going into the match.
“I felt tonight we had a good training session the lads looked ready, energised and hungry” said Matt,
“We’ve not played them yet it’s a first time shot a free shot there is no pressure on us and after last week we should go out there and give it a good go.”
Ellingham & Ringwood look to continue their good attacking form after the bonus point they got in their last game. “I think there is a bit more confidence in the group now and we are going out to attack” said Higgins.
Elingham & Ringwood are still looking for those first 3 points but Higgins believes that the team are not far away from it.
“That win is around the corner and as soon as we get it confidence will be high.” said Higgins.
