Musgrave set for fifth Winter Olympic Games

January 23, 2026 //  by Rian Mullaley

Male skier takes flight

Poole-born cross country skier Andrew Musgrave is set to appear in his fifth Winter Olympics, having been named in the 20-strong Team GB Snowsport squad for the upcoming games in Italy next month.

The 35-year-old has previously represented Team GB at the 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022 Winter Olympics, and has also competed in the World Cup since 2008, along with representing Great Britain at the 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2021, 2023, and 2025 Nordic World Ski Championships.

At the 2014 Winter Olympics, Musgrave qualified in 27th place in the individual sprint, the best-ever performance by a British cross-country skier, but was unable to progress from his quarter-final.

Four years on at the 2018 Winter Olympics, he produced the best-ever finish by a British athlete in Olympic cross-country skiing by finishing seventh in the skiathlon.

His results at the most recent Winter Olympics in 2022 were 46th in the 15km individual, 17th in the 30km skiathlon, and 12th in the 50km mass start.

Team GB will be looking to improve their medal tally at the upcoming Winter Olympics, having acquired just two medals at the recent 2022 Winter Olympics (one gold, one silver), three short of the 2018 and 2014 tallies of five.

In all four of the recent four Winter Olympic games, Team GB finished 19th in the medal table, with Norway topping the table with a sensational 37 medals, including 16 gold medals.
