Emergency services were called to a serious road traffic collision on Matchams Lane in Christchurch earlier this morning.
Dorset Police, Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS), the South Western Ambulance Service and the air ambulance all attended the scene following reports of a crash shortly after 8am.
Fire crews were called at 8.12am and found one person trapped inside a vehicle. Crews from Springbourne and Westbourne used hydraulic cutting equipment and a reciprocating saw to release the casualty, who was then left in the care of ambulance crews.
One fire crew remained on scene until 9.37 am. Police later confirmed the collision involved two vehicles.
One person was taken to hospital for treatment. A spokesperson for Dorset Police said officers attended alongside fire and ambulance services and confirmed that road closures were put in place while emergency services dealt with the incident.
No further details have been released at this time. Images from the scene showed an overturned car and the air ambulance landing nearby.
A witness described the scene as “pretty bad”.
