The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Dorset ahead of Thursday.
With storm Chandra settling down after causing many floods and road closures throughout the day, this second weather warning for Dorset will have similar effects to this, with the storm lasting a lot longer. Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue will be on standby to help anyone who is in need of assistance throughout the storm, like today, in which they guided cars and people out of flooded roads.
They recommend not driving through waterlogged roads and checking what roads are available to make essential journeys if certain roads are blocked off.
Today, the storm created many issues, such as floods, which affected many aspects of Dorset. The Stour Valley Nature Reserve was one of those places, Doug Turner, a resident who frequently walks through the reserve, found what some would see as a hinderance he saw as beauty.
“But it’s quite wonderful to me because I’m looking at it and it’s a complete circle in nature.”
This shows the storm will cover Dorset once again, starting at 12 pm on Thursday, 29th January and ending at 11:59 pm on the 29th.
The Met Office believes that there is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings. The storm could cause a small chance of fast-flowing or deep floodwater, causing danger to life.
Transport will also take a hit from the storm, with a slight chance of delays or cancellations to train or bus services, and some road closures. Drivers, beware that spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions. There is also a small chance that some communities will become cut off by flooded roads.
With it being a yellow warning, it has a low likelihood and a medium impact.
