Floods continue after Storm Chandra hits Bournemouth

SUMMARY:

Heavy rain, due to storm Chandra, has caused flooding across the whole of Dorset as well as many other places across the south west.

The Met Office have issued severe flood warnings in force for England.

Further rain is expected later today and tomorrow which will lead to some transport disruption and exacerbate flooding in places.

The clean up to make the streets accessible continues, and there will be more to follow throughout the day.

11:30 – BCP Council advise residents to make “essential journeys only”

On social media platform X, the BCP Council to avoid any form of travel unless it is necessary.

The council has mentioned that flooding has impacted their road network.

Network Rail have also announced train disruptions between Bournemouth and Southampton Central and more disruption between Lymington Pier and Brockenhurst.

The residents at Iford Bridge Home Park were evacuated on Wednesday due to the rising levels of the River Stour.

12:30 – Dorset hit with yellow weather warning

Dorset will be hit with another yellow weather warning until Friday 30th January. Our reporter Max Reynolds has more on the forecast here.
