Dorset Police has won awards for its efforts in tackling violence against women and girls.
The force took home two top honors at the National Centre for Violence Against Women (VAWG) and the Girls and Public Protection awards (NCVPP).
Dorset Police was praised for internal cultural shifts and community-focused safety projects.
The Survivors Network was named the winner for improving police culture and conduct.
The network provides support for officers and staff affected by domestic abuse and sexual harassment.
The (NCVPP) described the initiative as a “transformative force for compassion, fairness and accountability within policing.”
The Pineapple Project, also claimed the top prize in the making spaces safer category.
The project was launched in Weymouth in 2022 in collaboration with Dorset Council.
Since its inception the scheme has recruited over 60 “Community Guardians” among local businesses who aim to create safe spaces for young women facing abuse.
The project was praised by the judges for a “combination of community empowerment, education and partnership working.”
