Combating Dementia

December 12, 2018 //  by Marcia Veiga

Throughout this audio documentary, I explore the future of dementia and aim to answer the question everyone’s been wondering, “How close are we as a society, to finding the cure for dementia?”. Within the 7 minutes, you’ll hear from 4 individuals who are living with dementia, work within the care sector or are working to find the cure.

Statistics have shown that “1 in 4 people” know someone or have a family member living with dementia. Despite this, a majority of media produced documentaries continue to fuel dementia taboos.

The topic of dementia contains a lot of stigmas, which often people tend to shy away from discussing in public. Which given that it’s a sensitive subject, it just made me want to investigate it further.
